The World’s Most Stylish Smoke Detector
Smoke detectors work well but are cumbersome to install and often quite ugly. Entrepreneurs Michael Olsson and Richard Grönstedt of OG Invent developed Snapalarm, a user-friendly and attractive smoke detector that can be easily installed and removed without any tools (or holes in the ceiling!).
The consumer simply attaches Snapalarm to the cord of a pedant lamp (or to a hanging rod or chain for that matter). OG Invent and Ergonomidesign co-designed the smoke detector to blend seamlessly into any stylish setting. The aim is to encourage the homeowner to install several detectors, preferably one in each room, to increase security.
By encouraging homeowners to buy more detectors than one, OG Invent will not only increase sales but also help protect property and ultimately save more lives. In 2005, OG Invent sold 25,000 units in thirteen countries, including Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The sales target for 2006 is 150,000 units.
