The World’s Most Accessible Video Conference Service

Urban Stärner, founder of Skiptrip, wanted to develop an extremely accessible video conferencing service that conceals the technology behind it (unlike the competition). These video-based meetings are to be hosted in special Skiptrip rooms with large screens and razor sharp images. The objective is to build a network of interconnected video meeting rooms in hotels and conference centers all over Sweden (and beyond).

Skiptrip commissioned Ergonomidesign to develop a service concept that covered not only the meeting experience itself (with regard to room design, control panel interface, verbal & visual identity, and customer-employee interaction) but also the online booking & payment experience.

Through a series of joint workshops, Ergonomidesign co-ordinated and directed the collective efforts of interior designers, interaction designers, graphic designers, technical developers and marketing strategists. In these workshops, the design & development team identified key target groups, developed user scenarios, and conducted role-play exercises. In addition, the team set up design goals, developed service concepts, and built prototypes. Finally, the team tested and evaluated the prototypes with the help of real-life users.

The first two Skiptrip studios were launched in February 2009. The state-of-the-art video meeting facilities will help companies improve bottom-line performance by cutting down on business travel, by boosting group productivity, and by reducing carbon emissions. Needless to say, companies will also save money by eliminating the need to invest in conferencing equipment (and IT support staff).
